Framed oil painting on canvas, identified with old label at reverse as Don Mateo Pedroso. Descended through the family. Remounted and restored by Michael Alonzo for the Bennington (Vermont) Historical Museum and Art Gallery in 1962. Canvas is mounted on Masonite board, with original stretcher. Frame is period, perhaps original, with overpainted gold. Black light reveals scattered inpainting. Craquelure noted, primarily to shoulders and upper left arm of gentleman.
