Deciding the best way to take care of all of the items from an estate can be quite a task. The sheer volume of items, and/or the emotions they bring to the surface, can be overwhelming to many estate executors. That’s why we specialize in assisting executors and trustees in all aspects of estate settlement and liquidation.

We have been helping families for more than 20 years to navigate the often stressful and overwhelming job of figuring out how to take care of all of the stuff left to them to find homes for. Lifestyles have changed and very often many of the items left in an estate or downsizing transition no longer fit into the changing, simpler modern way of life. On the other hand, exceptional items are bringing record prices in the marketplace making it vitally important to obtain an accurate evaluation.
How We Can Help
When you are at a point where you are ready to proceed with the sale of items, we can schedule a home visit and consultation. (If the estate needs to obtain a certified written appraisal first, please call and we can refer you to the best professional firms in our region). We will look at the nature and scope of the group of things that you have and, taking into consideration your specific circumstances, make recommendations for the best way to proceed in order to get the highest return for the estate. At that time, we will make offers to purchase items that we have the best market for. For items that we cannot help with, or that we feel you would do better with selling in another way, we will give referrals to other reliable professionals and venues.
Consignments
We can consider taking individual items of high value on a consignment basis. We have established formal relationships with each of the major auction houses and, for individual items that would sell best in those venues, we can handle all of the details for you. This would include placement at the most appropriate sale, expertization and conservation if necessary, as well as delivery.
For exceptional estate contents, we can consider running an onsite estate sale or live auction. Our past clients for these types of remarkable sales have included a prominent thoroughbred horse racing family (for whom we sold the contents of their Saratoga Springs summer home and 5th Avenue apartment), as well as an English Lord who was clearing out the remnants of his manor in the Catskill mountains. We have also helped a very nice man and woman in East Greenbush who were neither wealthy nor titled, but had simply been left a very nice high quality group of antiques and decorative objects that formed the core of a very successful auction.
